Memristors could potentially hold many times that in potentially a similarly size. Probably 5-10 years out at best, if they figure out commercialization.
Storage isn't really the problem on a smaller device, it's heat (and battery.) But if you have certain stuff run on the server farm, and the latency-sensitive stuff run on the device (streaming jit, assets, or partially-rendered gpu commands to the device), you can win and never have the *entire* game on the device either. This is what I think the future of streamed games will look like. Really, this is not too different from the way the web works today. Do you have the entire PPSSPP forum on your device? Have you ever pirated the entire PPSSPP forum? Is there a torrent of it available somewhere? Yes, it could be spidered, but then it wouldn't be interactive (just like you could make a movie of a game.) -[Unknown] |
