harvest moon back to nature issue

I have try to download and play harvest moon back to nature iso, but no matter how i cannot use my R1 to store and withdraw my item from my bag. I cannot get any resolution in the net, but i do figure out some say need R2 button to do that, so how do i edit my setting to make me able to do that cause that the most significant key in this game.
