Brick PowerVR serious problem
Hello everyone!
This is my first post so I humbly apologize for any mistake.
I have an android device equipped with PowerVR SGX 540 gpu and only one game is working properly on that phone. I'm talking about Obscure (ofcourse there are some lags but O'm ok with this). The rest of my games are unplayable because of graphical glitches. No matter what option I choose (buffered or no) the results are the same: textures are melted and (for example) I can't see road in racing games. I've even tried factory reset and Cyanogenmod but it didn't help. Is this is only my phone (motorola XT894) or maybe any others PowerVR users have the very same issue. Please help!
Thanks for your patient!

My Android device:
Motorola XT894
JB 4.1.2 (debloated stock)
GPU: PowerVR SGX 540
DualCore Cortex A9 1,2 gHz (overclocked to 1404 mHz)
RAM: 1gb

RE: PowerVR serious problem
Well, you said you're using an Android phone so I figured the thread might help.
Did it help you anyway?

Did you check any video gameplay of that game on a PSP? Or perhaps tested it in your own PSP? 'Cause the texture you're showing us might be just normal. Smile

RE: PowerVR serious problem
Maybe screenshots didn't show it well. If you look close on the picture you can see that the road is transparent. I'm pretty sure that is powerVR problem beacause I also have old sony android phone which have adreno gpu and didn't meet that issue.
Anyway, thank you for your reply! Smile

RE: PowerVR serious problem
I have already turn off all graphic hacks but it didn't solve the problem. My device is moto droid 4. It has dual-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A9 cpu, 1gb of ram and PowerVR SGX540 gpu. These glitches didn't appear on my old adreno phone nor my pc. I'm using latest (v0.9.8-1042-gb57c3e0) github version of ppsspp.
I will be very glad if I you can help me! Smile

RE: PowerVR serious problem
We have a permanent hack currently for PowerVR that silently ignores != alpha and color tests. According to the code, they just don't work on PowerVR. This could be causing graphical issues.

RE: PowerVR serious problem
Oh, I understand. Will it be ever solved? Most of games are unplayable because you cannot understand what is going on the screen... Wink

RE: PowerVR serious problem
Try this one, I want to know if it is the same problem, too. Smile
You're using the latest build from Github, Replace it with 0.9.865 from Github, then play with "AlphaMask Hack" turned on.
This hack is supposed to fix the blue fog+blue soldier watermark from The Third Birthday, but it works like a glue to some other games that is buggy on PowerVR devices. Mostly Transparent/Black glitches.
Latest build doesn't have it, leaving 2 of my games unplayable, including The Third Birthday. Good thing imma MH3rd fan d(-_^o)

"Disable Alpha test" (totally 0 alpha draw from debug statistic screen) temporarily fixed those too.
I am aware of the ignored alpha tests from the latest builds because of fps drop, but I think that there is a "certain" alpha draw that is really needed to be disabled for powerVR [or] a disabled alpha test that needs to be re-enabled.

I have followed your instruction but sadly it didn't help. Sad
Here is another screenshot that showing the problem. As you see it is very frustrating because you can't figure out what is on top.

RE: PowerVR serious problem
The problem occur in Colin McRae 2005, Dirt 2, NFS Carbon. Also in Ridge Racer 2 but only when choosing car (car is transparent an you can see background behind).
