Random question about other emulators
yo guys

Do you think there will be PS vita emulator or 3DS emulator in next few years or do you think these gaming devices are hard to hack?

Just got curious

RE: Random question about other emulators
To be honest I think it will take a lot of years yet. The PS2 got its first emulator working well after about 10 years (I'm not sure), the PSP got its first good emulator (PPSSPP, of course Smile) after about 8 years, the same with PS3, but the PS3 emulator doesn't run many commercial games yet.

Phones: Poco F3 8GB/256GB (Snapdragon 870 5G) and Redmi Note 6 Pro 4/64GB (Snapdragon 636)

PC: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 / 16GB RAM DDR4 3600MHz / NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti 6GB / Windows 10 Pro

RE: Random question about other emulators
there wasn't ps2 emulater until now? I wasn't into PS2 games but i never thought it would took that long to hack it.

I think 3DS has the most possibility in future. Like the Gateway chip and Citra (and ofcourse f*ck 3dsemu because they are fake and bs) are starting to appear these days.

But not too sure about Vita tho... i haven't heard any official hacking project from internet so far

RE: Random question about other emulators
Before emulating a system you need to understand it properly, so the first thing you need to do is to actually hack the console. The hack can be hardware exploit or some hardware device plugged into the console in order to get a proper debug environment and then begin to document the console system. Of course, after that, they may release some "soft" hack where a hacker exploit vulnerability he discovered while "debugging" it. This soft hack may help to document more of the system by poking around with the kernel function. Once it's done, a basic "emulator" can happen.

So basically you need to document it first. AND it's may be very boring so one does not simply document about a gaming system.

Ps. 3ds emulator are most likely to happen now (they already existed before but were private (debugger) ) and for the vita one... well, I didn't heard anything about something like this.

Let me get this clear, if whe are talking about emulators on PC:

PCSX2 - Ps2 emulator runs almost all games if you have a decent PC.
here is their site:
http://pcsx2.net/

Play! - Another ps2 emulator however still in early stages runs only some games (final fantasy 10 is one of them)

Citra and 3dmoo - 3DS emulators, citra is more advanced than 3dmoo however neither emulators run commercial games
( https://github.com/plutooo/3dmoo ) ( https://github.com/bunnei/citra )

I dont know any vita emulators in development however some guys at wololo.net already hacked the console wich means an early emulator MIGHT be possible

If you want to know about xbox360 and ps3, there are already some emulators in development: Rpcs3 and xenia, rpcs3 is more advanced in development and if you have high-end pc it already runs some games.
Xenia only runs 1 game (Frogger 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAk0_jidpA0 )

If you want to know about 3ds and vita emulators for android... dont expect them for at least some years.. :\

RE: Random question about other emulators
Theoretically we could emulate psvita right now by cross system calling due to Free BSD's compatibility layer that shares similar calls with Hybris, which is for the ARM architecture. However, this is unlikely to occur because one would have to rewrite thousands of system functions, which is tiring and then create a player that could play it or open it. The hardware is not a problem, since they are similar. The software is the problem and team of very dedicated software engineers would have to handle it and deal with problems such as possible memory leaks.

PS vita emulation
Hi. I've been hearing about some good ps vita games that will be released soon. Can ppsspp emulate a ps vita game? On pc I mean.
Even if it suffers some kind of lag, I want to know if I get an ISO of a ps viat game if it will be playable.

RE: PS vita emulation
Moved.

I really don't think PPSSPP will emulate PS Vita games one day...
Maybe because it's a PSP emulator ? Rolleyes
