Desmume SoftRasterizer
Hi,

Just wondering, does Desmume SoftRasterizer (highres mod) run only on the cpu? The reason i ask this is because my laptop cannot seem to handle 4x high res 3d renderer. My laptop can run anything from ppsspp at max to Metro Last Light at High settings, i really doubt if my laptop can do that, a mere ds emulator with a minor high res upgrade should be slowed down from 60 fps to 20 ish fps, with even the lowest high res 2x it still gets about 30 fps, 60 with frame skip

RE: Desmume SoftRasterizer
Normally that is what "soft" and "rasterizer" together would mean.

Knowing zilch about the DS and having never used this patched version, I have to assume there must be better ways to render at higher resolutions...

Ah, okay.... thanks Smile ....
that really sucks because i was hoping i could use my 670mx instead of my crappy i7 3630qm cpu

RE: Desmume SoftRasterizer
due to the nature of the ds system, using the gpu to render will just slow thing more apparently

Hey everybody, tired of the way games are reported here? look here ->> http://forums.ppsspp.org/showthread.php?tid=5901

RE: Desmume SoftRasterizer
There is an OpenGL render mode, but it's buggy in high-res settings and even slower than software mode.

RE: Desmume SoftRasterizer
Oh, that's not good. I guess games are often pixel poking...

RE: Desmume SoftRasterizer
DS has a very unusual line-based rasterizer which is non-trivial to emulate accurately with a regular PC gpu. Also, it renders at very small resolutions which makes a software rasterizer fast. The PSP's GPU, while it has a few oddities, is more standard and renders at twice the resolution so more suitable to emulate with a PC gpu.

It could of course also just be a case of a bad implementation in the DS emu.
