A question about the Neon VFpu branch
Just out if curiousity,I compiled an apk of the neon vfpu branch of ppsspp

On kingdom hearts birth by sleep, many 3d objects were missing.

But boy,it was surrealistically fast.it is unbelievable. On parts that were once laggy,i now get 30 fps!!!!

Question, was the huge speed caused by the fact that many 3d elements were missing,or was it because NEON isa a beast.

Thank you and Kudos to you

RE: A question about the Neon VFpu branch
sorry I mistyped, what i meant was a lot of 3d objects and textures were missing but you probably know about that.

Either way,I really hope that the huge speed boost was truly because of NEON.The performance was so unreal,so fast,so everything positive.Even with multithreading off,the framerate that was once 8/30(85%) on auto frameskip 3 turned into 22/30(100%) on the same settings

Thanks

RE: A question about the Neon VFpu branch
Heh, really hard to say. Until I get the worst bugs out of the way, there's no telling what the performance will be like. Many important optimizations are still missing too.

I'm certainly hoping for a sizable speedup but 2x seems unlikely except in extreme cases.

RE: A question about the Neon VFpu branch
Is that's so?than that's so sad for me(only for me,everything is fine)

But despite that,i'm really hoping for this.I hope you get to fix the bugs(which i am sure you will seeing how professional you are in this field)
This is really cool, very very cool
the progress of the neon branch is just so amazing to me.just last week, everyting was a literal black screen on kh bbs.But now.there are now some textures and 3d models.

Just another question, where can I report progress/testing of the neon vfpu versiom of ppsspp? It is at least what I could do to you

RE: A question about the Neon VFpu branch
Don't report yet. I know where the major issues are.

When it's more ready, I will merge it into master and make it an option, and when it's really reliable the option can be removed.

Please do not stop neonizing the emu until the speed has AT LEAST DOUBLED! Or else!

GOW runs only at 58/60 fps on my Xperia Play (overclocked at 4ghz) so clearly some further neonisation is required. Proceed now.

RE: A question about the Neon VFpu branch
You meant 1.4 GHz right? 4 GHz is not a viable option in any mobile device. Your phone would shut down due to instability even before it reaches the 2 GHz mark.

Heh, looks like I managed to pwn one person on April 1st after all. Feels like I'm 35 again!

BTW, good luck with the VFPU branch! In the mobile emu world, speed is king... Wink
