[Fixed][Win32/NVidia] Vsync doesn't work?
I downloaded latest build (Win x64) yesterday and noticed that checking Vsync option is pretty much useless, on full screen I sadly get tearing, is there any other options that must be checked/unchecked?

Tearing is worst during fmv (3rd birtday, crisis core) gameplay seems to be fine most of the time, but there are occasional tearing as well.

Are you on an NVidia graphics card, by chance?

RE: Vsync doesn't work?
I have the same problem...
And I have "fixed" it by setting Vsync in NVIDIA Control Panel Smile

However, I don't know if it's possible if you don't own a NVIDIA card ? I believe it's what TheDax is afraid...

RE: Vsync doesn't work?
Well, if you're on Windows Vista/7, make sure you either A) have aero glass turned on, as this forces vsync (regardless of the checkbox in PPSSPP), or B) make sure vsync is enabled in PPSSPP, then exit fullscreen via F11 and re-enter it the same way. For some reason, vsync isn't enabling properly if you start PPSSPP in fullscreen mode without aero glass being turned on/starting PPSSPP in windowed mode on NVidia cards.

RE: Vsync doesn't work?
I actually managed to turn vsync on via Nvidia control panel and now games look great.
The only downside is that now my performance got hit and lowered FPS a little, it looks like I have to disable this anyway xP
Thanks for helping me out guys, REP+

RE: Vsync doesn't work?
Just to be safe, I wouldn't mark this as "solved" yet, since there is indeed a bug, and his last post is merely a workaround.

Belmont, can you test this build for me and see if it still tears for you when starting PPSSPP in fullscreen?

RE: [Win32/NVidia] Vsync doesn't work?
@TheDax, just tested above build, enabling Vsync seems to work good this time, started full screen and get no tearing at all Smile
just minor fps drop due to my specs xP

@jamesstuller screen tearing is mostly visible during FMV's, it could also tear in game but lesser noticable.
Try build provided by TheDax.

RE: [Win32/NVidia] Vsync doesn't work?
Just making sure, you had vsync set to "let the 3d application decide" in the NVidia GPU panel when you tested that build, right?

RE: [Win32/NVidia] Vsync doesn't work?
Right, default setting in nvidia control panel and Vsync worked by enabling it in ppsspp.
BTW, I noticed that playing in window without vsync didn't show tearing at all, even maximized.

RE: [Win32/NVidia] Vsync doesn't work?
Well, windowed mode never had vsync problems, so that's not surprising. Also, if you ever use Aero Glass or transparency, it forces vsync, so you won't notice tearing in windowed mode. Tongue

Marked topic as Fixed.

I think having 2 threads already bumped with the issue is enough, please don't necro any more threads, feel free to link them in the newest thread instead of spreading out the attention even more.
