Yeah, I tried:
- non-buffered rendering
- auto frame skipping
- unchecked hardware transform

all the rest are defaults

P3p needs buffered. Also, I usually keep hardware on. Auto on is okay though.

I just tried it. It still stays black at that part, and shows no signs of doing anything. Any other things I can try?

I tried the latest build, but it took away my controller lol. I will go back a few versions and test them to see if there is a different result.

Looks like builds 9.5-333 has no controller for me, 9.5-331 has the controller, but the same problem as before.

I am looking at the debug statistics, and I notice that all categories freeze besides Frames, DL processing time, kernel processing time, and slowest syscall.

The other categories are stuck as follows:

Draw calls:22, flushes 16
Cached draw calls:0
alpha tested draws:0
non alpha tested draws: 9
num tracked vertex arrays: 0
cycles executed: 11580(26.627218 per vertex)
commands per call level: 1290 0 0 0
vertices submitted: 338
cached vertices drawn: 0
uncached vertices drawn: 476

Does this help in any way?

attempting to try a few more early builds in the mean time...

Edit: Build 9.5-324 also has the same place where it gets stuck

Edit 2: I am going to try making another ISO file and trying again. In the mean time, does anyone else have any advice?

RE: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3
Has anyone encountered a crash after the first battle on the rooftop? When the "Results" screen comes up, it gives me the dialogue about the power surge and then when I hit the button to advance it crashes every time. I've tried restarting the game, fiddling with all the setting (from the recommended ones I've seen in the last few pages, then trying every combination of different ones). And then I've tried several of the latest releases.

Maybe there's something I'm missing.

PPSSPP has worked perfectly with other games and this one runs absolutely perfectly up until the crash. This is the Windows version of the program, to be clear.

RE: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3
Please help me. I have been using the latest build (v9.5) and play this game for a while and it works fine. Then I update my window 8 to 8.1 and suddenly the game crash every time I try to check social link from in game menu. I haven't test if there's more error yet. Is this because of the window update?

EDIT: Nevermind, it's a driver problem. Needed to reinstall the graphic ones.

RE: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3
I have been playing this on my Galaxy S3, I got it working fine right before the last update but since then it has been ungodly slow, with a horrid frame rate. What settings are any of you using to make it run smoother? Or is there another factor at work here that I am missing?

RE: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3
Hi everyone! I'm new here. Can't seem to run this game smoothly on my Android tablet running Tegra 3 with v0.9.5 gold. Runs with Non-buffered rendering but slows down a lot during 3D cutscenes, in-game and post battle menus, and when cursor placed at Iwatodai dorm's entrance. Buffered rendering causes the game to flicker a lot. Any suggestions?

Here's the current settings I'm using:

Mode: Non-buffered rendering
Frameskipping: Auto
Prevent FPS from exceeding 60: <checked>
Alternative speed: Unlimited
Hardware transform: <checked>
Vertex cache: <checked>

(most other settings as suggested in maximum performance thread)

Game runs fine on my Windows 7 PC with Buffered rendering...

RE: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3
Turn off frameskip, set antialaising to 16, and actually use the alt speed for 3D stuff.

thanks! i'll give em a try. btw, about the alt speed... setting it to specific speeds better than just leaving it at Unlimited? i also tried to play using buffered rendering on the Android device, i get no video from cutscenes (oddly doesn't happen on the Windows version) but plays fast overall... anything else i could do?
