HELP - VGA to HDMI issues!

Hey guys!!

I got a VGA to HDMI adapter to play PC games on my TV! I don’t know why, but, when I connect it all on my TV, the image doesn’t appear!! But if I connect just the VGA cabble, it works!!

The big problem is that I’ll have to use this VGA to HDMI adapter cause my TV doesn’t have VGA, just HDMI… and my PC doesn’t have HDMI, just VGA!!

Any clue why isn’t it working!? Could it be a broken adapter or I’m missing some Windows Driver for this kind of stuff??

Hmm... I don't think a VGA to HDMI adapter will work in the first place due to the fact that VGA is an analog interface and HDMI is a digital interface.

But what will work is DVI to HDMI which is the current setup in my living room.

Does your PC have a DVI port?

Yes!! It have!!

But it’s strange!! How can something doesn’t work if I you can buy it in the “legal market”, if you understand what I mean?

This is a really serious Brazilian company that sells pc components!! I have a lot of stuff of these guys and everything works all right!!

I've googled "VGA to HDMI" and converters such as that one showed up.

BUT, even if they do work, I don't really recommend it.
You'll get a better quality picture if you plug it in DVI than in VGA.

PLUS, for DVI to HDMI connections, all you need is a cable.

(That's the one I bought, only mine is 35 ft. long.)

EDIT: Do remember that even if HDMI also transmits audio, DVI doesn't.
In short, that DVI to HDMI cable I showed you only transmits video, not audio.
Same goes for VGA to HDMI.

Well, the problem is that, this kind of products are very expansive in Brazil! Once I get this one, I’ll have to use, unfortunately! I just can return it if it’s broken – that I’m assuming it’s not!!

That’s why I’m trying to solve this without expending more money!

Ouch! Can't you just say you have to return it 'cause it doesn't work for you?
And then blame them, saying "If it doesn't work, it must be broken." or something like that.

Anyway, when I plugged my DVI to HDMI cable, I didn't install anything and it didn't ask for any compatible drivers.
I just plugged and it worked. It should be the same for you.

They just plugged what needs to be plugged and it automatically worked.

So I guess there must be something wrong with that adapter.

What graphicscard are you using, Does it have any additional interfaces?
