[Resolved] Flicker in full screen
Hello,
I can't get ppsspp to display correctly in full screen. Every game that I've tried works fine in a window but full screen flickers. I have tried all settings at 1x/auto and nothing makes a difference. I read that DPI settings might cause it, but changing the DPI does not correct this for me. Software rendering fixes it, but that's not very playable. System: Intel i5 3570k, Radeon 7950, Windows 8.1 Builds tested: Latest release, ppsspp-v0.9.6-784 PS. Is there an option to hide the title bar/menus, would be nice since I have to play windowed. |

RE: Flicker in full screen
Can you elaborate a bit more on what games you're playing, and which DPI settings you've tried? If your flickering is DPI related, then I'd try it at 100%/off first (and yeah I saw changing the settings didn't fix it, but just making sure).
Does it work okay in an older build? 4GHz AMD 3900X, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 6GB Nvidia RTX 2060, Asus Crosshair 7 Hero (Wifi), Linux How to ask useful questions: https://web.archive.org/web/20110214010944/http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 I'm not Dark_Alex, nor do I claim to be. I tested with Dissidia Final Fantasy, FF VII: Crisis Core and Metal Slug Anthology, all work fine windowed but changing to full screen causes flickering. I tried 100% and 125% DPI, flicker happens on both. Latest release is the first build I tried, is there an older build I should test? |

RE: Flicker in full screen
I'd try 0.9.6.2 (the last stable release) first to see if it persists there. After that, you can try bisecting the issue by jumping around large number of builds.
For example, if it doesn't flicker with 0.9.6.2, you could jump forward to 0.9.6-256 or somewhere around there, and if it flickers, then you have a much shorter range to work with to find the problematic build. Then you could try 0.9.6-128, or around there, then 0.9.6-64 or so. If it doesn't flicker with a build around 0.9.6-256, then you could jump forward another 256 builds or so, and repeat the process. Jumping in large amounts can help you find the problem build quickly without having to test hundreds or thousands of builds. 4GHz AMD 3900X, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 6GB Nvidia RTX 2060, Asus Crosshair 7 Hero (Wifi), Linux How to ask useful questions: https://web.archive.org/web/20110214010944/http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 I'm not Dark_Alex, nor do I claim to be. RE: Flicker in full screen
Windows 8 can only use 32-bit it seems: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/...85%29.aspx
Quote:Unlike Windows 7, Windows 8 does not support color depth other than 32 bits per pixel. The user can no longer change the color depth of the system by using the control panel. If that's the cause for the flickering I guess it isn't compatible with win 8. |

RE: Flicker in full screen
Do any of the latest builds past v0.9.7.1-36-gcb05a58 help with this?
