I think it's too much complication for trying the emulator. For the meantime, it's fine for whatever who want to try it. But They should release a apk application in a future.

About linux on android if it run over the android "layer" there will be a lack of performance, it isn't it? I mean it isn't like a dual boot, then you are virtualizing a OS, not really that, because it run over the same kernel but I think that it lose some of performance.
