Black Screen when opening the program
Hi there everyone!! Sorry if this is the wrong section, but i didn't know where it should be. I have the latest "automated build" and everytime i open the program, it just shows a black screen in the background:
Besides, it won't let me change any options in the menu or run anything, just a black screen. I have windows XP x32 SP3 "gamers edition" as OS, 9600 Gt, 2GB of RAM, and an e2140 dual core cpu @ 1,60 GHz. Have the latest directx, all the frameworks available and C++ redistributables (2005/2008/2010 "10.0.40219") and latest official version of nvidia driver. Hope someone can help me , thanks in advance |

RE: Black Screen when opening the program
No idea what this "gamer edition" XP is, but if it lacks OpenGL that'd probably explain your black screen. Are you able to open other OpenGL applications without issue?

It's an edition which eliminates all unnecessary programs and such that comes with windows XP and comes with drivers and various programs installed. About the openGL, i tried to download an install a program called OpenGL extension viewer to check it and it gets stuck loading at "loading extensions". Tried another one called OpenGL checker and same thing. Lastly, tried a 3D test program made in OpenGL and it won't even open apparently i do have the opengl.dll in system32 but it must be broken or something. Is it possible to fix it? Thanks again btw |

RE: Black Screen when opening the program
It's probably removed proper OpenGL support then. There's not much you can do if the OS itself lacks the support. I'd suggest reinstalling regular XP, or if you absolutely need to customize/slim down XP, be very careful with what you remove.
It's definitely not a hardware problem, I wouldn't think(if it was, you'd see more than a black screen; it'd crash or give you weird graphics instead, or perhaps even BSOD), since you have an NVidia card, which is basically a 1st class citizen in the world of OpenGL. 4GHz AMD 3900X, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 6GB Nvidia RTX 2060, Asus Crosshair 7 Hero (Wifi), Linux How to ask useful questions: https://web.archive.org/web/20110214010944/http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 I'm not Dark_Alex, nor do I claim to be. Thank you!! |

RE: Black Screen when opening the program
You could always wait a bit longer and see if anyone else has suggestions. Up to you, though. No problem.
