Anisotropic Filtering
Every time I start a new beta(no settings),in Settings=>Graphic=>Page 2=>the Anisotropic Filtering is always set to 8x

Is that normal...my pc isn't that powerful to use AA\AF filters at that level.
Do I have to always disable that option or that option is active only if I enable something else?

RE: Anisotropic Filtering
I'm just asking...I also don't get any speed loss at 16x but I also don't see any difference between 16x and disabled(or it's so small that I can't see it)

RE: Anisotropic Filtering
Anisotropic filtering is always set to 8x by default on a freshly downloaded Orphis build.

It is nearly free, and doesn't cost anything on any modern graphics cards made in the past 5 years or so.

PPSSPP Modern Testbed:-
Intel Core i5 4690K @ 4.0 GHz
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 760 2GB GDDR5 VRAM @ 1138/6500 Mhz
16 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600 MHz
Windows 7 x64 SP1

PPSSPP Ancient Testing Rig:-
Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 @ 2.8GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon 4670 1GB GDDR3 VRAM @ 843/882 MHz
8 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1066 MHz
Windows 7 x64 SP1

RE: Anisotropic Filtering
But I just can't see a difference no matter how hard I try to compare two images or just trying to remember how the game look like between 16x and disabled.

If there is no difference, what's the point of having it enabled(consuming resources...no matter how small)

Can you show me two images on which I can see a difference

RE: Anisotropic Filtering
Alrighty then.

Here are two massive PNG screenshots from Monster Hunter Freedom 3rd HD taken at 1080p full screen, one with AF disabled and and one with AF set to 16x. Default settings otherwise + 2xSSAA for both to eliminate aliasing from the equation.

External AF in my AMD/ATI CCC has been set to Application Controlled to prevent CCC from overriding the emulator's own AF settings.

AF disabled

AF enabled and set to 16x

Screenshots are best seen side by side on a massive, colour calibrated monitor. They are hosted externally because the forums do not permit images beyond a certain file size.

If you still can't see the difference in those lossless 1080p screenshots, I really don't know what else to say.

RE: Anisotropic Filtering
Ok the images look really good(can't believe that's a psp game Smile)but I really don't see any difference between both images.

I increased the brightness and contrast on my monitor to max,and I was looking at the images in full screen(original size)for the past 10 minutes but I really didn't see any difference(graphics improvement)
