RE: Final Fantasy II
It's disappointing that this game isn't working on PPSSPP, considering the others do.

What do you mean by this? It's not playable on your platform?

State your platform, and the ppsspp revision you tried this game on.

Also, try again using the latest git revision here:-

http://buildbot.orphis.net/ppsspp/

EDIT:- Retested on 0.7.6-772-windows-x86 using rig in sig. Works just fine as before.

PPSSPP Modern Testbed:-
Intel Core i5 4690K @ 4.0 GHz
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 760 2GB GDDR5 VRAM @ 1138/6500 Mhz
16 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600 MHz
Windows 7 x64 SP1

PPSSPP Ancient Testing Rig:-
Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 @ 2.8GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon 4670 1GB GDDR3 VRAM @ 843/882 MHz
8 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1066 MHz
Windows 7 x64 SP1

The problem is using a build that both allows me to hear the music and doesn't crash when I try to use the frame skip option. I don't really want to play the game when it forces me to choose like that.

RE: Final Fantasy II
Has anything been solved yet along these lines? The startup and having to choose between music and frame skipping, I mean.

RE: Final Fantasy II
When I play this on v0.8 the opening movie works perfectly fine including audio to go with it. But once im in towns and on the world map its a bit laggy. Audio stutters a little and I get slight drops in frame rate from 60-40s and its just goes up and down between those.

RE: Final Fantasy II
Unfortunately this game is currently kinda demanding, due to the way it uses animated textures.

I have a powerful computer. I'm guessing the emulator just can't handle it? If so, that's understandable. I could just deal with not being able to fast forward if that's how I'm going to make it through.

RE: Final Fantasy II
Well, my computer can definitely fast forward (180 which is 3x in world map, better in town), but yeah, basically it's doing something that is much cheaper on the PSP's GPU than with OpenGL. I'm sure it can still be improved, though, but it won't be easy.

The problem is when I fast forward, my emulator is more likely to crash for some reason, especially if I use the version that keeps the audio, so I'm not sure.

RE: Final Fantasy II
Im using a galaxy S2 and as soon as I exit the castle in the beginning the frame rate drops to a crawl then it crashes. FF 1 and 3 work fine though. Im also using the latest version of ppsspp

Hi, got to the armor shop and no text is showing for the items, using 0.8.1 on Windows XP. Any tips?

Hello there, and welcome to the forums.

Can you list out your specs/platform/device please. Example would be like the ones in my signature.

Intel Core i5 4690K @ 4.0 GHz
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 760 2GB GDDR5 VRAM @ 1138/6500 Mhz
16 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600 MHz
Windows 7 x64 SP1

PPSSPP Ancient Testing Rig:-
Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 @ 2.8GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon 4670 1GB GDDR3 VRAM @ 843/882 MHz
8 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1066 MHz
Windows 7 x64 SP1

RE: Final Fantasy II
Also, if it isn't on already, make sure Buffered Rendering is ON, or you won't have text in the shopping screens(at least on NVidia).

4GHz AMD 3900X, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 6GB Nvidia RTX 2060, Asus Crosshair 7 Hero (Wifi), Linux

RE: Final Fantasy II
The game now has missing window elements in the UI since 0.8.1-209

Last working revision is 0.8.1-207.

Temporary solution is to disable buffered rendering, but if you're on an Nvidia card, this is not a viable option as your text will disappear in the shopping screens (as per daxtsu's observation above)
