Tongue 1.9GHZ VS 1.2GHZ
hmm ,,
''IF'' I have two smartphone ..
1 (My Phone) is Sony Xperia lww = 1ghz cpu but overclock to 1.9ghz(scaling performance)
2 (Not Mine) is Samsung Galaxy S2 = 1.2ghz dual core NOT overclock

BUT PPSSPP doesn't use dual core right ?
I've played PPSSPP on Sony Xperia LWW(1.9ghz) and get 60fps .
So , Can I get the same FPS on Samsung Galaxy S2 which have 1.2ghz(because ppsspp only use 1-core)

INFO :
I download ram manager(paid version) and applied Hard Gaming and the game is smooth like hell Tongue .. ups Exclamation Like Heaven Angel

RE: 1.9GHZ VS 1.2GHZ
You will have more performance on 1.9. But if the Galaxy S2 also be overclocked to 1.9, it will have more performance, because the processessor of Galaxy S2 have more power.

Phones: Poco F3 8GB/256GB (Snapdragon 870 5G) and Redmi Note 6 Pro 4/64GB (Snapdragon 636)

PC: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 / 16GB RAM DDR4 3600MHz / NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti 6GB / Windows 10 Pro

RE: 1.9GHZ VS 1.2GHZ
Not necesarily, GPUs are pretty different on both phones and SGS2's is better since the Sony one is an adreno 205, and also the app doesn't use dual core but it DOES affect the performance of the app, I suspect it is because the background procesing goes on the second core (I tested this by myself, locking it to 1 core has lower performance than locking it to 2 cores, by some 3-7VPS).

Finally, as Guilherme said, the SGS2 CPU architecture is also better, and thats already a nice plus.

-Samsung galaxy S3 International version - Android 4.4.2
-Dual Core locked CPU, Clocked at 1Ghz-1.8Ghz
-Mali 400MP4 GPU Clocked from 160Mhz to 533Mhz
-1GB ram, boo..

RE: 1.9GHZ VS 1.2GHZ
GPU is probably the most important part.
CPU can get you a high VPS, but it doesn't mean that 60 FPS = playable. It could be incredibly jerky. I'd prefer 30 FPS over 60 VPS with 20 frames any day.

RE: 1.9GHZ VS 1.2GHZ
Thnx for the reply Guys ^_^ ..
So , did u guys mean that samsung s2 is more better because the background app using 1-core while the game use another core ?
I want to buy samsung S2 tht'z why I'm asking this. so, Thank You For the answer.

I didnt get any problem with the 60fps ^_^ .. It's really smooth ..

RE: 1.9GHZ VS 1.2GHZ
The thing is, anything with more than 1Ghz is already pretty good to run it, but the GPU is a very important part for this as xsacha said, so you do nothing having a pretty high freq on your phone if the GPU doesn't work very well, you'll notice that if you play a really heavy game on both devices.

Do you mean it like this ? :
Weak GPU + 1.9ghz = smooth
Strong GPU + 1.2ghz = smooth

RE: 1.9GHZ VS 1.2GHZ
Well it depends on the game. Let's just say that there is a hypothetical game (eg. PES 2013) that uses both the CPU and GPU heavily.
Let's just say the game requires at least 1.3GHz to generate 60 frames and it requires at least a Medium GPU to render 40 frames and a Strong GPU to render the 60 frames.
Noting that there is a linear association with CPU performance and VPS and that there is a more exponential performance with GPU performance and FPS (weak GPUs can barely run anything).

1.9GHz + Strong GPU = 60 VPS (and 60 FPS) perfectly playable (smooth)
1.9GHz + Medium GPU = 60 VPS (and 40 FPS) playable, some frame skips. (may be regarded as smooth)
1.9GHz + Weak GPU = 60 VPS (and 15 FPS) not playable, heavy frame skipping

1.2GHz + Strong GPU = 55 VPS (and 55 FPS) perfectly playable (smooth)
1.2GHz + Medium GPU = 55 VPS (and 40 FPS) playable, some frame skips. (may be regarded as smooth)
1.2GHz + Weak GPU = 55 VPS (and 15 FPS) not playable, heavy frame skipping

0.8GHz + Strong GPU = 37 VPS (and 37 FPS) playable, no frame skip. (smooth but not real-time)
0.8GHz + Medium GPU = 37 VPS (and 37 FPS) playable, no frame skip. (smooth but not real-time)
0.8GHz + Weak GPU = 37 VPS (and 15 FPS) not playable, heavy frame skipping

Note: GHz listed assuming same architecture (Cortex-A9 for eg.)
Note: if the game is able to use the game timer hack (available for Symbian only at this stage) like Wipeout, it will have always 60 VPS regardless of CPU performance but FPS is still limited by frames generated by CPU. That is, game speed is always real-time and no frame skipping.

Well ,, You already explain all information that i needed and Thank You so much for the answer .. Did u write that ? if yes , sorry for wasting your time to write it Big Grin .. So ,
SEXperia LWW = Medium GPU + 1.9Ghz = 60vps(40fps) while ,
SGS II = Strong GPU + 1.2Ghz = 55vps(55fps)

RE: 1.9GHZ VS 1.2GHZ
It depends on how much the game uses both the CPU and the GPU. Each game is different but it is definitely possible that a 1.2GHz device outperforms the 1.9GHz one.

Anyway, now that you've named the devices, I can break it down for you.
Component: SGS2 v SEXperia LWW
CPU: 1.2GHz Cortex-A9 vs 1.9GHz Cortex-A8
GPU: Mali 400MP4 vs Adreno 205

First off, their CPUs can't be compared equally like this because they use different architectures. So, I will level the playing field for you (I'm being generous on the A8 too):

Component: SGS2 v SEXperia LWW
CPU: 1.2GHz Cortex-A9 vs 1.3GHz Cortex-A9
GPU: 2-3.0x FPS vs 1.0x FPS
http://gfxbench.com/compare.jsp?D1=SonyE...+S2&cols=2

The SGS2 is much much better. You will get roughly 3x the FPS in most games due to that GPU and you can play much more powerful games.
The CPU is still better, when overclocked, on the SEXperia but the difference is not that great. They are both enough to get 60 VPS in most games.

I doubt a ram manager would actually help, seeing as how ppsspp doesn't use much ram anyway. It's possible that by preventing background apps from running, the ram manager prevents unnecessary CPU usage, but even then the performance difference should not be significant since the CPU is not as important as the GPU.

But in my phone can see the difference when playing Project Diva Extend

When not using HARD GAMING MODE :
Every 6sec playing games the vps will drop to 40 from 60 and after 3sec vps will be 60 again. then after 6sec it drop again and after 3sec goes 60 again and again and again. Big Grin Tongue Big Grin

When using HARD GAMING MODE :
Always 55-60VPS

Sounds like you have some greedy background processes (like indexer or gallery scanner) and Hard Gaming takes care of them.

I get 58-60 FPS on PES 2013 in my Galaxy SII. I think that this game not use much GPU and CPU, is a game with the simple texture and graphics. The PS2 version is much better, the texture is good, have several types of lawn, also have shadow of players and ball, and others details.
