Custom Bezels/Overlays?

Did anyone find any tricks as in how to implement bezels/overlays? Those black bars are annoying on the sides and not all games have widescreen patches.

Don't want to use Retroarch since it doesn't give the same performance.

Using android

I was thinking of modifying the images of the input controls but I couldn't find those image files on my android.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
