Ace Combat X & Ace Combat Joint Assault - HD Texture Packs
[Image: collage-small.png]

Hi All,

I've put together a pair of HD Texture packs for Ace Combat X and Ace Combat Joint Assault. They feature high quality, remastered textures, for the following items;

Features
  • All playable aircraft skins; with game-accurate markings & working lights
  • All emblems in Joint Assault
  • All player-usable external weapons
  • Heads up display
  • Target-preview, aircraft-status, and weapon-status HUD icons
  • Mini-game objects; tanker, aircraft carrier, etc.)
  • Allied NPCs in cutscenes
  • Allied & Enemy naval vessels, airborne fortresses, & land based superweapons
  • Scenery objects, hangars, & tunnel-mission interiors
  • Title screens, stage select maps, & briefings
  • All in-game fonts
  • Xbox and Playstation style button prompts

Additionally, these packs allow for easy customization by simply replacing or editing the .PNG files in the /aircraft or /emblems folders.

There are few more features I am working on for X, once they are complete they will be ported over to Joint Assault along with the the new HUD.

Bunch of new updates! Both packs now feature completely overhauled menus, fonts, stage select maps, title screens, and briefings, as well as high resolution weapon textures.

In addition the high res HUD has now been ported over to Join Assault, bringing both packs to feature-parity. Any new features will be added to both simultaneously, where applicable.

The latest update to both packs is now available, and both packs now have support for optional effects add-ons.

Available out of the gate is a pack that completely revamps the look and feel of smoke, flames, and explosions; as well as a selection of different afterburner effects.

Hi. First I want to say you did an awesome job on this mod. Everything looks so good and I love it. I have a question to ask. How can I create my own custom aircraft liveries and place them in the game? I’m somewhat new to this, so any and all advice is appreciated.

Thank you,
Mobius176

Glad you're enjoying it! All of the aircraft liveries are PNG files found in the /aircraft/ folder. You can edit and replace these files with any image editor (GIMP, Photoshop, etc).

Simply toggling texture replacement off/on again will re-load any textures from disk, so you can preview your edits in game easily.

Hi. I really love these textures packs. I want to make my own aircrafts' liveries for Joint Assault but there're only some gray shades and small stuff when I open the .png files in Photoshop. Would you mind sharing how to make own liveries for Joint Assault?

Thank you,

Textures aren't just images that end up displayed in the game, in some games they might be tightly packed and transformed, in others use only portion of the allocated space, they might also have various colors and affects applied afterwards.

If you can't easily understand what you look at when looking at a texture I'd recommend to just create some test paint job with arrows, numbers and maybe different colors as well, then load that texture in game and observe where those shapes, numbers and colors you painted on are actually ending up giving you idea how to paint it properly.
