RE: Hows the Vulkan Backend Coming Along?
Person who opened this issue mentions using that xiaomi phone, so as you can see Vulkan does work on it, might still have some problems through.

Dolphin already has a functional Vulkan render backend.

RE: Hows the Vulkan Backend Coming Along?
Dolphin uses graphic features much more advanced than PPSSPP, so it'll have much more issues. Remember that OpenGL on Android is OpenGL ES, it means an OpenGL version with main features of OpenGL, the only Android devices with full OpenGL are Tegra ones, they have no issues running Dolphin. The same with Vulkan, it's very early on Android. PPSSPP's devs also care about Android version, working arround some issues, while Dolphin's devs not, to port this emulador was idea of only few guys, most don't agree Dolphin should be on Android.

RE: Hows the Vulkan Backend Coming Along?
I have researched that the Mali T860 should be compatible with Vulkan but I can't enable the options in the game, it just returns the option to Opengl. Is it because of the emulator? Do I have to update the phone? Somehow add the API to the phone? I tried researching how but everything I saw is about creating apps or some similar stuff.

The phone is an LG Stylus 3 M400DK. Octa-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 and Mali-T860MP2.

RE: Hows the Vulkan Backend Coming Along?
Install any updates that the phone wants to update. If that doesn't help, there's probably not much that can be done unfortunately - the manufacturer hasn't done their homework properly enabling Vulkan.

RE: Hows the Vulkan Backend Coming Along?
Vulkan works decent with Dolphin only on the Nvidia Shield TV, which is a non-portable Android device. Dolphin runs like garbage on other Android devices using Vulkan. And you can only do so much with OpenGL.

RE: Hows the Vulkan Backend Coming Along?
Dolphin should never be compared to PPSSPP, cpu emulation is definitely a bottleneck in most Wii, possibly even GC games where in comparison PSP cpu emulation is for the most part very light.

Vulkan helps with cpu bottleneck by reducing the time gpu drivers waste on creating all the complex effects which gpu emulation requires, it will however not improve anything in CPU emulation directly;p, it just gives it a bit more processing power to spare.

PSP graphics emulation is often very complex(sometimes even more complex than Wii as quality doesn't matter for this;p) and the reason why some games might be very demanding which is why Vulkan will help much more here than in emulators like Dolphin. It has definitely nothing to do with it's authors doing something worse, Dolphin if anything is famous for the opposite - having a lot of developers to do stuf right. Mobile hardware just lack required processing power to deal with more demanding emulation and it will forever be a thing since potatoes have to run on tiny batteries and can't even have an active cooling to run at it's full speed for more than few seconds.
