[In-game] Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker DEMO-OPS
#1
Title ID: NPUH90066
Region: US
Compatibility: Shows "Checking Memory Stick™" text and then hangs on a black screen forever, if using JIT. If using interpreter, it runs with major graphical glitches, and poor speed(duh).
Version: v0.9.1-57-gfc313b1
Link to demo: http://media1.gameinformer.com/media/fil...PSP_Us.zip
4GHz AMD 3900X, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 6GB Nvidia RTX 2060, Asus Crosshair 7 Hero (Wifi), Linux

I found an error in the debug console :
Code:
preseek1 E[HLE]: HLE\sceIo.cpp:1807 UNIMPL 0=sceIoIoctI id : 00000004, cmd 01010005, indataPtr 09f9ee78, inlen 00000010, outdataPtr 00000000, outLen 00000000
Smartphone :
-> Sony Xperia Tipo (Android 4.0.4)
CPU - ARM Cortex-A5 800 MHz / GPU - Adreno 200
RAM - 404 MB

PC :
OS - Windows 8 / CPU - Intel Core i3-3220 3.30 GHz
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce GT 620 / RAM - 4,00 GB

The same error happens all the time in Peace Walker(full), iirc, so that's not really essential to this demo running, I don't think.

Seems to boot past the memory stick screen with interpreter

I haven't tested beyond the titlescreen though.

I haven't tested beyond the titlescreen though.

With Interpreter it realy works!
Tutorial and the first part of the first Level (didn't test it further yet)
Loading screen often freezes but just press start to move on.

Edited first post. I still wouldn't call it "playable" since it requires interpreter and has some major graphics glitches.

Here's why the JIT doesn't work for this demo, if you want the gory technical details.

Hate to bump this thread, but I find it odd that full MGS PW works, but not the demo. I wanted to try it to check the differences since I played the demo ages ago and liked it.

What TheDax posted is still the case. It can be worked around using the interpreter and changing after you get past that part, I think.

I understand that, but looking at the console there are no errors at all.

Thanks to the workaround mentioned in issue #3365, I made a CW Cheat for every Peace Walker DEMO version to skip the hash compare and avoid the hang or black screen using the JIT. The DEMO still has graphical glitches and for some reason it runs noticeably slower than the full game, but with JIT enabled it can now be played Smile

MGS Peace Walker Demo (TGS 2009 Demo 1) [JAP], NPJH90063.ini
Code:
_S NPJH-90063 _G Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (TGS 2009 Demo) [JAP] _C0 Hang/Crash FIX _L 0x20008728 0x0A20224A _C0 Hang/Crash UNFIX [Original value] _L 0x20008728 0x1440007F

MGS Peace Walker - Demo Ops (Demo 2) [USA], NPUH90066.ini OR NPHH00145.ini
Code:
_S NPUH-90066 / NPHH-00145 _G Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker - Demo Ops [USA] _C0 Hang/Crash FIX _L 0x2000FAE4 0x0A203F39 _C0 Hang/Crash UNFIX [Original value] _L 0x2000FAE4 0x1440007F

MGS Peace Walker - Demo Ops (Demo 2) [EUR], NPEH90023.ini
Code:
_S NPEH-90023 _G Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker - Demo Ops [EUR] _C0 Hang/Crash FIX _L 0x2000C818 0x0A203286 _C0 Hang/Crash UNFIX [Original value] _L 0x2000C818 0x1440007F

"Hang/Crash FIX", as the name says, makes the game boot and run. "Hang/Crash UNFIX" restores the original value and makes the game hang again. Only use one cheat at a time, not both.
