need help
I've in the mood for retro and was recommended to try ppsspp. I'm having a bit of trouble with it. I can maximise the window but if I turn on full screen in can only see the top left corner and the rest of the display is black.
I'm also wondering about a guide for settings. I'm using 1.0.1 specs: win10-64, [email protected], 8gb DDR3 1600, Samsung 830 256gb SSD and 280x 3gb. I play on a 42" 1080p LED TV + 360 controller. I'm not sure how demanding it can be but I will be upgrading to skylake soon. I can find guides on settings for low end devices but not for mid-range PCs. What are idea settings for high fidelity with a minimum 40-60fps? I will be playing games like dexter and FFIV |

RE: need help
For your weird resizing problem, any chance you're using D3D backend? If yes, then switch to OGL and never go back;] ~ we listed some differences between the two quite recently and dunno if it's still the case but d3d backend always suffered from some window resizing problems. Could be also some Windows 10 weirdness through, no clue.
As for settings - avoid speedhacks and multithreading ~ it's not like you would need those ~ and just use as high rendering res and texture scaling as you want. Just a note rendering res at x4 will give you 1:1 pixel size on 1080p, if you want to use higher you should additionally use a downsampling shader like for example gauss posted by Bigpet here then you will get nice supersampling effect, without it all you would get is placebo.;p Except some workaround hacks like "Lower resolution for effects" or "Depth Range Hack" which are there to fix some glitches, most settings are for people on much weaker devices or for testing and debugging. Dunno "dexter" but if that's just typo for Daxter, then it should work fine as well as FFIV. In case of problems try using latest version from official site. Don't remember what fps those games were running, but for the most part you should forget about 40-60 and if that's a "minimum" you can take, then no you don't have a "mood for retro" as that would get you into single digit fps range:X. Anyway most psp games ran at 30fps if you plan on changing that you can look into 60 fps patches, but you would have to learn how to do them yourself as they can be quite time consuming to make, the list we got for now is somewhat short even including buggy and unfinished patches. http://forums.ppsspp.org/showthread.php?tid=6594 - Custom PPSSPP Shaders! http://forums.ppsspp.org/showthread.php?tid=3590&pid=117172#pid117172 - simple CE scripts to help creating CWCheats, https://github.com/LunaMoo/PPSSPP_workarounds - CWCheat workarounds. |

RE: need help
I'm getting the problem with openGL, most settings were left at default.
Ok, I've set the settings at 4x. Yes I meant Daxter (games) not Dexter (tv series) Oh, good new! I downloaded the latest version you linked to and fullscreen now works great. I've set rendering resolution and upscale level to 4x. Anything else to make it look more "pretty"? Is postprocessing shader worth changing? I'm getting a solid 60fps 100% speed in ffiv I love that my 360 controller just works, good job ppsspp! |

RE: need help
Well if you still have to use D3D postprocessing shaders will unfortunately not work at all for you, it was really made for low end hardware and much later as well so it doesn't offer as much. What's the ogl issue anyway? Or was that fixed in newer version of ppsspp? I guess win 10 might have driver issues, it's always like that with new os:].
If you can use OGL, well postprocessing shaders are most subjective thing really, some people completely hate them as whenever you enhance something with them, something else is always being lost. Nothing really is "best" doesn't matter how many people abuse the word, so you should just try them out and see if it's improvement or not for your own eyes. And if you need more options you could also check the link in my sig since ppsspp doesn't really allow mixing different effects in any other way(at least not yet) than providing them as one combined shader. http://forums.ppsspp.org/showthread.php?tid=6594 - Custom PPSSPP Shaders! http://forums.ppsspp.org/showthread.php?tid=3590&pid=117172#pid117172 - simple CE scripts to help creating CWCheats, https://github.com/LunaMoo/PPSSPP_workarounds - CWCheat workarounds. |

RE: need help
Hi LunaMoo, as I said in my edit to my last post. Upgrading to the newest version solved my fullscreen problem.

RE: need help
Ah, I see that fullscreen issue was OGL, got confused a bit.~_~ I blame that on heat.
Have fun testing shaders then, even if you don't find any you like, most games already look better with just texture scaling and rendering res:3. http://forums.ppsspp.org/showthread.php?tid=6594 - Custom PPSSPP Shaders! http://forums.ppsspp.org/showthread.php?tid=3590&pid=117172#pid117172 - simple CE scripts to help creating CWCheats, https://github.com/LunaMoo/PPSSPP_workarounds - CWCheat workarounds. |
