Yes, I know about this trick and try it - no effect.
So, this problem not fixing by this way...
Unique of this sound problem that the only SOME of SFX do not playing. Sound at the menu (when player choose something or move cursor - sounds correct), during the game sound of some weapon are playing, but not other, ambient on a half of the stages are playing e.t.c. Approximately - 80% of SFX do not "show", however other 20% works no problem. Strange...
But this is not big problem - I have completed this game 5 times with different characters without problem...

As solarmystic said try his method too. Though this is a little odd, it does remember me of the bug monster hunter games had prior to the audio fix. I wonder if it is something related to it.
Since English is not my first language sorry for some misspelling on my posts

@Niobium
Interesting observations. Thanks for your feedback.
Yeah, my solution is an all or nothing fix.
Either you hear every SFX or you hear nothing, due to the sound mix once you've maxed out the SE Volume level. Works for the monhun series, Megaman games and others like Gundam V Gundm Next Plus.
This does sound like a different audio issue if some SFX can be heard and some can't.

Yes and it is sad...
I have tested different version of PPSSPP:
1) v0.7.5-16-ge1b1e6a
2) v0.7.6-469-g33e7169
3) v0.8-17-gc661abd
4) v0.8.1-107-g8a0f233
5) v0.8.1-302-g1c90866
Everything have problems that I discribed before. I thinking - maybe this is problem of my PC's specs? Maybe Realtek's driver issue? Have anybody found this problem too or only me?

I don't have the game, and I suspect not many other devs do either, otherwise they'd be able to conclusively confirm/deny your findings.

Guys, I have the same problem. Music works fine, *some* sfx, but engine, weapon, and some other sounds are absent. In sound options everything is turned on maximum.

Bug report:
Game - Twisted metal: Head On
Genre - Car combat game
Region - EU (same problem with no matter what region)
Format - CSO (problem is with any format actually)
PPSSPP Version - 1.0.1
OS - Windows 7
Compatability - Playable
Note: Game lacks sound effects, only music plays in background. Sounds of missiles, machine guns, engines, collisions are completely absent. SFX of special weapon is there, but distorted to unrecognisable noise.
Note in note: Menu works fine, SFX bug occurs only in game process.
Yes, my drivers are fine.
Yes, my in-game sound settings are fine.
My computer is fine.
My PPSSPP version..must be not so perfect.
Can this be fixed? TM series is a kinda hit and exclusive.
Thank you.

Hey everyone was wondering if I could get some help with something. I'm trying to play Twisted Metal: Head-On on PPSSPP and I'm not really getting any FX sound. Music works fine and sound works everywhere except in the game. In the game, the only thing that makes sound are vehicle Special Weapons. Any way that I can fix this so I have sound everywhere?
