Black Screen when opening the program

It's probably removed proper OpenGL support then. There's not much you can do if the OS itself lacks the support. I'd suggest reinstalling regular XP, or if you absolutely need to customize/slim down XP, be very careful with what you remove.

It's definitely not a hardware problem, I wouldn't think(if it was, you'd see more than a black screen; it'd crash or give you weird graphics instead, or perhaps even BSOD), since you have an NVidia card, which is basically a 1st class citizen in the world of OpenGL.
