Persona 3 Portable endless loading screen

I'm using the latest version of ppsspp on an android phone. Everything runs pretty much perfectly up until the scene where my character is given the contract that leads into the name input screen. Between the character taking the contract and fhe name input screen, the game gets stuck on a loading screen. The animation is fine, it doesn't slow down or freeze, but it's a constant loop without ever bringing me to the name input screen. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
