First of all, make sure you're using the latest dev build from https://buildbot.orphis.net/ppsspp/index.php?m=fulllist

1). Both PPSSPP must not be blocked by firewall!
2). If you're using multiple instance, you will need to choose "localhost" on the Change PRO adhoc server ip address, and enable Built-in Adhoc Server, and of course don't forget to enable WLAN too.

If you're seeing red error message on screen, tell us what the message was.
