No Buffered Rendering is basically a speed hack that works on some games, but the majority of them it causes the game to flicker. If I remember correctly, PSP can show any frame from it's buffer and lot's of games use this to show a frame more than one time and archieve 60FPS. If you disable Buffered Rendering the game can't repeat a frame anymore and this cause a flicker.

This is why it's difficult to implement frame skip on PSP too, since if you skip a frame that is buffered it will flicker the same way as if you don't have Buffered Rendering.
