No, I'm not sure if this problem occurs to somebody else. I'm just providing a troubleshooting for your problem.
Anyway, I downloaded 0.9.6, loaded MHFU [EUR] then created a save file as well as a install data from that version. Then I transferred them to 0.9.8 and it worked perfectly. Can you still use those save files on 0.9.6? If not, then maybe the save files themselves are the problem, not the process of using them on 0.9.8. Could you also provide a screenshot of the actual message where it says your save files are corrupted?
