Actually, after replacing the fonts with the originals, the battles are running at 95-100% speed. w/ auto frameskip-1 and 1:1 resolution on my 1080i HDTV.(and I always keep my drivers updated. I didn't get my first computer yesterday 
) Don't know why those fonts weren't just left in there, anyways, but I guess originality beats functionality, or something. And I've played and beaten both GoWs, on this laptop, and have never had really any issues with them or any other game besides this one. Well, anyways, thanks for the tip about the fonts, can't believe that solved 2 issues in one!
