RE: Best setting for Asus G53S
Hello and welcome to the forums Samurai500.
Firstly, disregard my performance thread. That is not applicable for your system. With a reasonably high powered (for this emulator) laptop like that, the defaults that ship with the emulator are good enough, but with a few changes for the best quality. Open up PPSSPP, head to Settings, then Graphics and change the following:- Postprocessing Shader:- Choose either Natural Colors or FXAA Antialiasing. FXAA when combined with 8x PSP Rendering Resolution provides a pretty superb jaggy free experience. Rendering Resolution:- 8x PSP or higher (biggest visual improvement, and the 460M GTX should be able to cope with this, just make sure Rendering Mode is set to Buffered Rendering.) Vertex Cache:- Disable it. Performance loss will be negligable on your system, and this provides the best graphical experience, since VC on has issues in certain games like Danganronpa and Project Diva 2 (rapidly blinking eyes). In fact, with the latest Vertex Decoder JIT commits that been merged to master recently, you could even see some performance improvements by disabling it. Lazy Texture Caching and Retained Changed Textures can also be disabled for the same reasons. Texture Scaling Upscale Level:- 3x (higher values cause massive hitching/stuttering even on better PCs) Upscale Type:- Hybrid + Bicubic (personal preference) Deposterize:- On (personal preference) Anisotropic Filtering:- 16x Ensure all Speedhacks in the Graphics page are disabled. That's pretty much it. The rest of the settings are fine and should only be changed for compatibility reasons on a per game basis, performance shouldn't ever be an issue for your laptop. Just make sure the emulator is using your NVIDIA card and not the Intel Integrated card (which should be automatic.). PPSSPP Modern Testbed:- Intel Core i5 4690K @ 4.0 GHz NVIDIA Geforce GTX 760 2GB GDDR5 VRAM @ 1138/6500 Mhz 16 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600 MHz Windows 7 x64 SP1 PPSSPP Ancient Testing Rig:- Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 @ 2.8GHz ATI Mobility Radeon 4670 1GB GDDR3 VRAM @ 843/882 MHz 8 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1066 MHz Windows 7 x64 SP1 |
