imported save files?

I'd like to replace my save file with one someone else uses. For instance, MGPW. I took one from GameFAQs and replaced the appropriate files in the appropriate directory. (memstick->....etc) However, when loading the file, I get kicked back to the start screen. The same is true for a Crisis Core file I got off this site. I made sure both files were the same version of the game I had.

Can the PPSSPP use files made from actual PSPs? What's going on?
