Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Tag Force 5

I'm not sure if im doing something wrong. im using the 0.9.6.2 ppsspp that i just downloaded (which works great for other games i've been wanting to play, like fft and wild arms.) but this game still gives me the same problems that others have. the black screen of death when trying to change areas at the beginning of the game.

do i have to disable something in an option menu to get past this? some of you folks seem to be able to play it just fine, and it irks me that im not one of them =(
