RE: Final Fantasy IV : The complete collection
Hey there, I was wondering about a certain graphical glitch in FFIV. I searched around, both in google and in the forums + github and I couldn't find anything about it, so that made me think that it might be the result of my settings.
The issue I'm seeing is the "screen shatter" effect that occurs before boss battles. For me, it only shows as a shaded black screen as illustrated below: ![]() as opposed to the effect shown here, for instance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pla...N-i0#t=622 EDIT: Actually this might be more illustrative: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhle4lrmZ...lpage#t=50 For clarity, what the effect is supposed to do is take the current frame and make it look like it shatters, in this case it is mostly white due to the mist. This looks to me like either a blending problem or a failure to get the current frame pixel data. Is this a known issue, or is it caused by some setting? I'm running the 64 bit version on Windows 7 (with an ATI card) with the following settings (I'm only including the ones that I think would be relevant): Buffered Rendering (makes no difference for this issue) Frameskipping off Mipmapping on (no difference) Resolution 2x (no difference, it's still broken in 1x) Hardware transform off (no difference) Software skinning on (no difference) Vertex cache on (no difference) Upscale off Texture filter nearest (yes, I like the pixelated style and no, no difference) All hack settings off (since the stencil issues were fixed), and Disable stencil test, Always depth write and tex coord speedhack don't affect it. |
