On that image, buffered rendering is clearly enabled, there's no way to render at a lower resolution except for actually switching the screen resolution of the whole desktop. The latter is something that's best avoided today in my opinion.

What GPU do you have that has performance issues stretching a buffer to the screen?? What game are you playing?
