PPSSPP cheats not working

hey all, just got the 9.1 official release for PPSSPP and I've noticed no cheats will appear in game even with cheats enabled clicked in system settings.

any ideas what I could do? I have the cheats.db in the cheats folder along with a lot of cheat files for a few games
