What version of PPSSPP are you using, I'm asking because I used the ones from gamefaqs just to get a decent partner and had no problems with it other than it telling me the avatar card was corrupted and needed to be fixed than asking me to save and allowing me to continue playing. You may want to try one of the newer builds found here: http://buildbot.orphis.net/ppsspp/

Also the saves on gamefaqs were made with the DLC installed which is available on psn for free, so you will also get an error message about not having it that you can ignore if you use a save file made with DLC on a game without it. Though I believe using DLC equipment might cause the game to crash if you don't have the DLC.
