I had the same problem on my cousin PC yesterday. He had me install Windows 8 for him. After the fresh install, with updated DirectX and VC++ (although I don't think PPSSPP requires it), the emulator crashed when I attempted to load any files.

His PC specs:
- Celeron 430 (very ancient)
- Intel G41 chipset (Intel GMA 4500 IGP, ancient too)

Intel only provides graphics driver up to Windows 7. So I have no choice but using the default driver that come with Windows 8. Perhaps it was the problem.

I also tried running PPSSPP on my VMware virtual machine (on my computer, not my counsin's), and it ran perfectly without any error.
