Patapon is a great example. US version has:

0885A188 jal sceDisplayWaitVblankStartCB
0885A18C nop
0885A190 jal sceDisplayWaitVblankStartCB
0885A194 nop

If you stub out the second one, the timing goes all funny, but it runs at 60 fps too.
