difficulty with FFIV After years

Hello,

I am currently playing FFIV after years (Japan version). The sound the game controls work fine. However, there is no dialog when I talk to people and during story scenes. The menus seem to be fine, however without seeing what people are telling me, I cannot play the game.

Perhaps there is something I am doing right?

I have attached am image so you can get an idea of the situation.
