This could be related to some audio changes made to the code recently that seems to affect a lot games with sound effects Try this:- 1. Change the BGM and SE levels in the Audio settings to 8/8. SFX in certain games can't be heard until you jack it up to 6,7,or even 8. 2. Lower your overall volume in the Windows Audio Panel to a level that you can be comfortable with. (Edited to reflect the fact that you're using Windows XP, which does not have individual volume controls for apps) That should fix it.
