Well, you can always try with this other method too, use the frame skipping function (under graphic, try with a number that works better for you), also you can try your luck using the "unlock CPU Clock" under system settings, generally speaking I see people lowering the default value to something like 40, but I can't help you here, since I have no experience with it.
