Spectral Souls: Resurrection of the Ethereal Empire

Spectral souls are not playable anymore. After the opening finishes playing it hangs (black screen and nothing happening) - doesn't go into menus.

When I try to exit the emulator a error box pops out after a delay, saying:

Wait for emuthread timed out!
please alert the developer to possible deadlock or infinite loop in emuthread!

Tested it with 0.8.x builds and then went back to later 0.7.6 builds. The same results. BlackDaemon reported it working on v0.7-577-g4e4399f so I'm guessing something went wrong in 0.7.6 versions.
