A lot of factors have an impact on your performance, powersaving mode, the rom you use, the kernel, I/O scheduler, governor, even the apps you got installed.

For example I'm running SlimBeam 4.2.2 (build 3) too, Dual-core mode, GPU@533Mhz, CPU @1.4 or 1.5Ghz, Row scheduler and Personalized PegasusQ by myself, all that on Devil Kernel and my games play just fine, always at 50-60 fps.
-Samsung galaxy S3 International version - Android 4.4.2
-Dual Core locked CPU, Clocked at 1Ghz-1.8Ghz
-Mali 400MP4 GPU Clocked from 160Mhz to 533Mhz
-1GB ram, boo..
