PPSSPP crashes on startup

I haven't used PPSSPP in a while and when I started it up yesterday, it crashed just a second or two after it launched. I'm not sure why it's doing this and I don't know if a Windows update or something else is behind it for the following reasons:

1.) Launched the 32-bit executable with the same results, except it kept functioning for a few seconds more.
2.) Uninstalled, downloaded, and reinstalled the latest version of PPSSPP, same results.
3.) Downloaded and unzipped the portable version, same results once again.

Surely something external is causing these crashes to happen but I can't think of valid clues as to what it maybe and I'm not gonna bother trying to look for a solution unless I know for sure what the problem is. Nothing urgent, but I'd like to get it out of the way sooner than later when I do want to devote plenty of time on it.
