Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker - Custom HD Texture Pack v0.2
Summary:
The intention behind this pack is to replace all the original HUD/UI elements that appeared blurry on larger resolutions/screens.
Some improvements from the HD Edition were brought over and then edited to fit the original where possible.
Everything else was remade by hand to best fit the original game.
v0.2: Non-video cutscene speech bubbles completed 100%.
v0.1: HUD/UI elements completed 100%.
There are some edits & AI upscales to other non HUD/UI elements like the Monster Hunter creatures, Carrier Platform and the Love/Rescue Boxes.

Size: 85307270 bytes (81 MiB)

Requirements:
- Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (USA) [ULUS10509]
- Any file archiver tool like 7-Zip to unpack the downloaded .zip file.
Install:
- Open the downloaded "Custom HD Texture Pack v0.2.zip" file using your file archiver tool.
- Extract the "ULUS10509" folder to "PPSSPP/memstick/PSP/TEXTURES/*ULUS10509*"
- If "TEXTURES" folder is missing then create one.
- If "ULUS10509" folder already exists then delete it.
FAQ:
- Check to see if "Texture Replacement" is enabled by going to:
- "Game/Settings > Tools > Developer tools > Replace textures"
- The folder structure for the texture pack should look like this:
- "PPSSPP/memstick/PSP/TEXTURES/ULUS10509/*folders and texture.ini here*"
- PPSSPP folder structure looks different?
- Make sure you have the latest version of PPSSPP installed. (v1.13.2 at the time of writing this)
- You can bind a key/button to toggle texture replacement on and off in-game by going to:
- "Game/Settings > Controls > Control mapping > Texture replacement"
- Contents inside the "rhy" folder are just random things I done while making the pack.
- You can disable them in the textures.ini file or delete the folder itself.
- If you don't like the Monster Hunter creature upscales then you can delete the folder named "mh".
- The PPSSPP emulator does not use the original Sony PSP font. The font PPSSPP uses is "Roboto-Condensed" which can
cause some inaccuracies with Peace Walker and other games.
- It is highly recommended to dump the original PSP font to fix any text issues.
- There is DLC for Peace Walker that adds 24 new Uniforms, a bunch of new tracks and extra AI voices.
- Right analog stick support, Recruit discovery workaround and others can be found here. Thanks to LunaMoo.
- 30 & 60 FPS cheats can be found here. Thanks to Kabuto_Kun. (30FPS v4 recommended)
Uninstall:
- Go to "PPSSPP/memstick/PSP/TEXTURES" and delete the folder "ULUS10509".

- Some parts of the HUD/UI have been forced to nearest filtering to fix texture bleeding for people who prefer linear.
- This causes some jagged edges for some textures that have angled/sloped surfaces outside of 0 & 90 degrees.
- All skys, clouds, stellars, shadows and some water effects have been forced to linear filtering for people who prefer nearest.
- You can disable these forced texture filtering settings by scrolling to the bottom of the textures.ini file and deleting all-
lines under "[filtering]" or by commenting them out by putting the # symbol at the start of the line.
Reccomended graphical settings for possible fixes:Rendering mode
- Backend = Direct3D11 or Vulkan
Framerate control
- Frame skipping = 3 (up to you really)
- Auto frameskip = On
Postprocessing effects
- Postprocessing shader #1 = PSP color
Screen layout
- Display layout editor = 'Partial stretch' if Fullscreen, 'Auto Scaling' if Windowed
Performance
- Hardware transform = Off (needs to be off for "Vulkan" backend)
- Lazy texture caching (speedup) = Off
- Retain changed textures (sometimes slower) = Off
- Disable slower effects (speedup) = Off
Texture scaling
- Upscale level = Off
Texture filtering
- Anisotropic filtering = 16x
- Texture Filtering = 'Auto Max Quality' ('Nearest' for MGS1 feel)
- Screen scaling filter = Linear
Hack settings (may cause glitches)
- Lower resolution for effects (reduces artifacts) = Off ('On' causes transparent squares to appear)
Extra Note:
I am fairly certain that I may have missed a few things in-game so please post all issues/bugs and I'll try to fix em.
