Hexyz force slowdown

I have a moto e6 smartphone using pie with vulkan backend. The game runs great until I get to a cutscene that has fog like transparent curtains moving around. The sound stutters and the game slows down. Do I just not have enough cpu power to render alpha transparency's like these effects. I have used emulators a long time and know that alpha transparency's are usually their Achilles' heel. Any recommendations?
