Unless I'm living under a rock and [Unknown] got a team and finished his project, there's really nothing to "update".
There are few translations existing for this game AFAIK: 1) Very old english translation that's probably most known, but: - incomplete, basically bare-bones of main plot and mission objectives, not much else translated, - buggy, ranging from glitches that cause some text to be unreadable through incorrect stats and missing at least one Ace and his unique weapon, - patching method itself it just awful, requires java and jpcsp, can fail with too long path, - changes gameID to a wrong one despite not translating sfo file. Link. 2) Fairy new and still updated spanish translation which seems to be complete by now: - changes fonts to include spanish specific glyphs requiring different font textures for replacements not just different hashes, - potentially based on the above broken english translation as it also changes gameID and if they didn't bothered to fix that, it might also have other problems of that english translation which would be really awful. Link. 3) English UI-only patch by [Unknown]: - translates menus including mission objectives and does not have any known bugs, - also translates sfo and keeps proper gameID, - [Unknown] is really great programmer and even small details matter for him so if this ever get's finished, it'll likely be the best experience for this game english users could get, - already is considering it's potentially the only one that doesn't break the game. Link. A bunch of text in this game is just textures, hence different translation will require different textures. My tiny replacement work was based on most playable and up-to-date english translation there is mostly because I wanted to do something to promote it seeing only chance to get a proper translation in his project. On a side note I tried some AI upscaling in addition to my manual work from years ago and while a lot of stuff is pretty awful with seams and stuff that really needs manual edits here and there, some things are pretty nice.
