Too much work for something which will likely be fixed in next release:3.

You can try Kabuto_Kun alternative fix from here I belive his "Graphic glitches FIX" disables water animation, but as long as you don't look at it, you'll not be bothered by it.
Also his "Better performance 1" cheat is doing exactly same thing as my "speedhack", mine just has an extra safety check, but that doesn't affect how it works.
