No menu or speech text in-game

I apologize if I'm obviously doing something wrong, but all the games I've tried thus far (the English patch for Yu-Gi-Oh Arc V Tag Force Special downloaded from MEGA thru Nicoblog and Yu-Gi-Oh Tag Force 5 downloaded from Coolroms) are missing all text outside of the "press start" prompt just before the main menu and the name input.

I was having display driver crashes before, but I got an updated ATI driver that fixed the problem. That I'm aware of, all my drivers are up to date.

Would very much appreciate some support.
