My games do not finish Saving

When I try to save my game it never finishes checking storage media, it does not freeze there since I can still see its running and in the background the characters are still moving ,it just wont finish the storage checking media part ,I can load and save state, but for progress it needs to do default saves at some parts of the game, so im stuck , I can not move on until it saved after I finish a stage . any one know what I could do to fix this?
