It sounds to me like you may have a bad rip. But I'd also suggest trying the latest git build instead. For me, FF3 is working fine in the latest git build with mostly default settings.

You were correct once again The rip process was bad that time. Everything is in working order now. I even resolved two additional issues: one with textures showing up as blacked out squares where the actual texture should be, and text coming up garbled up.

I turned off Hardware transform and that fixed the issues. Rendering at 4x PSP also makes everything look crisper (most notably the characters). 5 or higher starts to zoom in the actual screen/image.
