I have the same problem of the game crashing when I go talk to the principal office at the beginning of the game.

I'm using PPSSPP v1.1.1 on Android 5.0 and I have the Texture scaling option OFF, but it keeps crashing.

Edit: I just found the solution, in the Performance section change the Display resolution (HW scaler) and put Auto (same as rendering solution)
, also my rendering solution is 2x PSP. With this I can pass the problem without issues.

Edit 2: I have found the same problem in 3 other parts of the game, always in conversacion that are part of the story. The last one though I can't pass just by restarting the ppsspp, this time no matter what I do, it just keep crashing. And it's a real shame because this is really a good game.
